External CD Changer Controls?

I get that this is probably a stupid question, but can anyone tell me how to tell if a factory headunit has CD Changer controls just by looking at it?

It'll have a button that says "CD" on it

Does that include the cassette/CD combo headunit? Mine has a CD button, but it only switches to the single disc CD player.

Oh! sorry. That, im not quite sure about, but if it changes to the single disc, then it most likely cannot control an external cd changer. Was an external changer an option that year?

yeah . . . and i've heard talk that some of them required you to press the CD button twice to enter DJ mode . . . which i'm assuming would control an external CD changer
