You guys know my 96 5.0 by now

I finally have it running,

Went to the mall today took my spare key (important) only a key no remote.

Locked it up and went in for a few hours of shopping and suburban trash watching. Get done go out to go meet my wife and kid. I use the keyless entry pad t unlock the door.

Turn the key and

'CLICK'

Everything shuts down.

100%

NO lights nothing. Not even the door unlock works.

Tried jumping it us in case nothing.

It eventually reset and I tired it again but nothing.

Called my wife to bring the remote but there was no power to the car so the remote didn't work. Waited... nothing ever happened eventually just had to leave it there.

HELP!

Oh and I am sure this is key but the car does have an aftermarket remote starter.

This had happened to my wife once but when I got to the car I stepped on the break hit the unlock button and it started right up.1

Never mind.

I'm a morn

The positive battery cable was loose at the clamp!

its rather easy to diagnose these trucks when they dont start.

starter. battery. or loose cables

in my case i just got done with my body lift woohoo! and wanted to go to get gas. went to start the truck and nothing happened at the turn of the key.....turned out my shift linkage geometry was screwed up so the gear selector said it was in park when really i was trying to start it in reverse. thank you neutral safety switch :D
