01 Sport Trac 4WD not working

Found this sight searching for an answer to my 4wd problem.....hope someone can help. The 4wd [both high and low] only works for a short time after a cold start. The 4wd engages, the dashlight comes on, and I hear a clicking sound from behind the dash when I turn the switch. After it runs for a minute or so I can no longer get any reaction from the switch.....no light, no clicking sound, no 4wd. Occasionally it will not work with a cold start, and likewise occasionally it will work while warm. I pulled the switch out today, took it apart and cleaned the contacts...didn't help.

I don't own a Sport Trac and know nothing about 4x4's. Have you considered it being the 4x4 shift motor attached to the transfer case?

Most likely its the 4x4 control module. Little black box behind the glove box.

I think I still have one in the garage if you want it I'll sell it cheaper than you can buy.
