what kind of rear end does a stock 97 V6 XLT explorer have? i know its 10 bolts.. but what does that equate to as far as size or whatever?
(10.25", 10.50", 7.5", 8", 8.8", 9", 9.75")
I need to buy all differential bearings and stuff and need to know what size.

it sounds like a yoke bearing or something. it sounds horrible. whining sound at all speeds and i can make it go away by matching rpm to wheel speed while slowing down of course but as soon as i lift off the gas or add more gas it comes right back.

idk if this is related but i cant even do one legged burnouts anymore. its acting like a limited slip. it spins for a few seconds then tightens up the other wheel and stops the fun :(

you have the 8.8. Pull the cover off and inspect the gears.
