Howdy folks...
This is the first problem with my truck that it didn't have when I bought it.
At first it just seemed like the shift lever was hard to engage in park.
Then it wouldn't engage the first time, and would drift with a clicking noise.
I would apply the brakes and usually it would go into park the second time.
Now it doesn't go into park at all.
It is like park has slipped under the steering column closeout, and I cant put the lever where it needs to be.
I am assuming that the collar that the gearshift rides on has slipped somehow.
Has this happened to others?
Is this a hard problem to fix?
How do I go about fixing it?
Thanks
EDIT-
Looking at my Haynes manual I found a reference for a shift cable adjustment that looks like it might be what I need to accomplish.
Is this the right adjustment for what I am talking about?
How long does this adjustment process take?
