shorted capacitor
The capacitor can fail in a shorted state which disables the ignition. The disconnect allows for easy capacitor replacement.

I didn't realize that what I thought looked like high temp silver for the exhaust was bluish since the cap look more silver...Oh well it's different but goes with the gray colored mounts.
I will have some questions about some of where the vacuum hoses go.
