Has anyone gotten this looked at and fixed? I have it too but worry that is they do something it will make something else worse and rattle down the road. Would like to know any positive results.

Thanks!

I just spoke with the service rep at my dealership and she was contacted by Cory and company about the misalignment. She asked me to bring in the X. I have an appointment on Thursday. I explained to her the issue and she went and looked at three other X's on the lot including the owners X and she said that they align up on the passenger door with the dash as the same as the driver and it was not offset. So she told me they will look at it when I bring it in. I will keep you guys posted on what I find once i hand it in.

Also, i know this is on a separate thread I explained about the liftgate issue with the cold and they will look into that too.

Thanks for keeping us updated, Mo. Drop me a line via PM if you’d like any more details forwarded.

Recent update with my X:

I been speaking with the Service Mgr at my dealership and she has been speaking with Ford and the person Cory has working my case named Alexis. So I handed in my X tonight to the Service Mgr and showed her the issue on what everyone has been reporting about the door alignment issue and she acknowledges the concern. She said what they will do is take apart the door panel and see if they could adjust it to make it fit properly and line up. She took a ruler and measured the alignment offset and see the problem. However, she cannot guarantee that once they open it up that it will be something that they can fix or adjust.

Now the other thing i noticed when I was taking pics of the pass door was the gap of the plastic cover at the beginning of the window compared to the driver. Sorry cant attach pics to show u guys.(my acct wont let me) I am not sure if that piece could be the cause of the misalignment or not but she acknowledged that too and said they will look at that as well. Does anyone else have the issue I see with the window panel?

I believe you can only post pictures using this site if you have an Elite Membership. Otherwise you would have to post them on a site such as Photobucket and then post a link to them here.

Both of mine are like the one on your driver' side (pic. 207). If the bottom was pushed out to close the small gap then the bottom of that plastic piece would not be even with the edge of the door panel.

I didnt do anything to it. It was like that when i got the X.

Sorry, that wasn't the intent of my post. I was just commenting that the gap on the bottom is there because that trim piece lines up with the door panel and it no longer would if it was pushed out to close the gap. Besides, I tried it and it didn't budge.:D

Yes+1

Ok guys, I have a positive update on the alignment and possible fix. I just got a call from my dealership service manager and she said that they found the issue. Looks like on the inside of the door where the panel sits there is a push pin at the bottom which holds up the panel and it was put in crooked by the machine. As soon as the technician took it out he saw that the hole where the push pin goes into was not aligned. As soon as he lifted the panel on the door and put in a new push pin the door lined up. She said it is not 100% perfect but 99% better and makes a noticeable difference then before. Also in my pics i posted of the window panel which was not aligned on the passenger side also got fixed as soon as they fixed the push pin below and it lined up everything on the window plastic because all of it is one piece.

The service manager took pics for me and is emailing me the pic of the location of the push pin, door/dash alignment, and the windown plastic alignment issue. Once i have it I will post it up for u guys.

Also, I had the lift gate issue in the cold which I will post on the thread for the liftgate. She said that the technician could not open the lift gate when he tried to this morning after pulling it in and they are looking into why that is happening in the cold so they could replicate it. They are still working on the issue so no new news.

Ok guys here is the pics of the after shots of the alignment once they fixed the push pin.

Good job. Please PM me, or post here the pics of the push pin and I may call my dealer and tell them about this. Perhaps they can do the same to mine! :)

Me too please.. I am supposed to bring it to the dealer early next month but I was hesitant. This will help for sure.

Me three. I've been debating whether I was going to take the car to the dealer because like others I didn't want to introduce any problems, but if it is a pin misalignment, I'll definitely have that fixed.

As soon as I can I will post a pic. I am work and I wont get the X until I go pick it up. She told me it is very visible and no one can miss it. If you open up your pass door by the hinge on the bottom left of the door panel at the bottom she told me there is a push pin which u can see is not flat and is inserted at an angle. That is the pin which is misaligned.

I will speak to her again before I get the X back and will ask if I can get a pic of the pin location.

Question for Cory,

Now that this has been uncovered does your customer service group post this to all dealers to correct or is it done only upon request when customers bring in the X? What is the procedure for Ford when something like this is discovered and how is the information communicated to the other dealers across the country?

Thanks for the pics! My Service manager told me that they could probably fix it but warned me that they'd have to open up the dashboard and said that there's a realistic chance that something might get messed up from that. It's an eyesore for me but I've learned to ignore it. I'd rather not take the chance.

However if it's just a pin issue on the door, that might be something I'll double check. Thanks again for the pics, very helpful!

mdc160,

I’m not a technician and therefore not a part of that process, but I do know the details are sent up the line to be reviewed.
