exhaust question

Didnnt think about that, you take it back to the other side or just run them paralel all the way to the tips? I want to try some glasspacks or cheery bombs and see how it sounds. Have a 40 series now but want louder!

THIS!!!..

Flowmaster is probably in the top 2-3 biggest Marketing Myths in the performance world.

Flowmaster, PROVEN time and time again... will COST power, will NOT add performance, will ALWAYS piss off the neighbors...

I will never understand the sheep/cattle to slaughter mentalty of mod'ing a vehicle...

"well XX is popular, therefore it MUST make HP"...

Oh wait... since I am "just biotching".... Read the stats:

Flkowmaster was low and loud... so if LOUd is important.. go for it...

How does it feel to be a lamb ?

If you truly want people to listen to what you have to say then I suggest you change the tone of your posts. The issue here is not whether you are right or wrong with your statements but rather you leading off with the jerkoff tone that you posted in.

I agree that Flowmaster does indeed rob power to get sound. There are many other options that sound damned good while giving hp such as Borla, Magnaflow, Bassani, SLP, etc. But do you really need to come out of the gate berating these people, calling them "lambs", and saying that their panties are in a bunch when it is clear that you are the one who chose to transform what could have been a productive discussion into an argument?

I am about the biggest performance vehicle nut you would ever meet. If it burns fuel then I am already thinking of a way to make more power with it whether it has wheels or wings. But I also realize that while those are what matter most to me; it is not my personal values that matter most when it comes to other people. Some only care about show, some about performance, others about sound, and while others care about all of them in a package. To each his own.

While I agree with the point you were trying to make I think you chose an extremely poor way to make it.

OP unless you have already bought the Flowmaster then I would recommend that you look at some options from Borla and Magnaflow. Borla is usually more aggressive sounding than Magnaflow is but both of them also don't hinder exhaust flow like the Flowmaster 40's do. Some Borla's sound much more badass and aggressive than even Flowmaster 40's by the way. They will cost a little more too but if you care about keeping the horsepower you already have then it might turn out to be a better option for you.

i have a flowmaster original 40 series. i simply wanted it for a decent sound out of my 4.0, and i knew the drone was going to be bad. now that ive had it for about 6 months, i'm ready to shoot myself because of the drone. recently i've been looking at a Hooker Aerochamber, Dynomax Super Turbo, or a Gibson Super Flow. i'm looking for a decent sound with hopefully a lot less drone. would you reccommend any of these or do you know of a better muffler for my application?

For a V6 I never try to get allot of sound out of it because they get real buzzy almost every time you do that. About the only 6 cylinder engines that I ever heard that sounded good with a loud exhaust were a Nissan R34 Skyline in Japan and a Nissan 350Z in Bahrain. I have a Gibson exhaust on my 4.0 Explorer Sport and it is a milder exhaust note. When you get on the gas it gives a little rumble but when cruising it quiets down and isn't really intrusive on the ear drums.

Got my Flowmaster 40 installed today and even though it's just a single, I took out the resonator as well. It's louder than I thought but it gives you that nice deep rumble down the road. It reminds me of an old muscle car. My neighbors don't gripe about the loud pipes on my bike I highly doubt they complain about the latest addition. I love the opinions that aired on this site, but wow...strong opinions don't reveal right or wrong. It's all about personal taste.
