4WD & 4WLOW Light Flashing

It will flash 6 times, and as soon as it starts flashing, I can't operate the windows in my truck for about a minute.

Alas, that sounds like a problem with the GEM computer module that controls both of those functions. Check the connectors to the module, and start looking for a replacement.

Before you do anything, "reboot" your computer by unplugging the negative terminal on the battery for about 20 min.

Try this link I know 97-98 they had a tsb for gem modules because of 4x4, lighting problem. This might help. I know for 97-98 we replaced the gem module and another part and did not reprogram the old ones. And we replaced quite a few. I am pretty sure 96 is different but it will give you some instruction.

This is EXACTLY it. Which relay is it.. I get a bit lost in translation trying to read this.
