I have a '02 Explorer that rattles when the RPM gets to 2,200 regardless of the gear it is in. I have read that it is the EGR valve and should be replaced but as I look more it is suggested that the EGR valve does not typically need replacing and I should look into replacing the DPFE sensor. Suggestions and tips would be appreciated. Thank you.

torque converter most likely. alot say that they have gone 100k with that noise as to the torque converter is hard to change.

If the rattle stops when overdrive is engaged then it is very likely the torque convertor. If not then I would check the heat shields first. When loose they have a tendency to rattle at specific RPMs. It could be the timing chain guides too but I doubt it since it only occurs at a specific RPM.
