That sounds good, Dwr4door; enjoy your vacation.I've been on vacation. Next week I will take it to the dealer for the work. I'll let you know.
From reading your post I don't get the impression that the dealer stated that there isn't a problem. The dealer just hasn't heard of it which is quite possible since communications with Ford doesn't seem to be a strong point. Also, with a large dealership there is a chance that someone may have had the problem but because another technician looked after it doesn't necessarily mean that every one else knows about it.Wow......I was told by one of the district guys that......"this is the first I have heard of this" and the dealership I go to the service manager said the same....."we are one of the biggest dealership in the midsouth and I have never heard of this". So I'm thinking.....
A. This problem does not exist.
B. All the people that ride in my explorer are "smelling the car in front of us" (when most of the time there is none when this happens)
C. Ford does not want to admit this problem exist.
D. Or.........How I'm being treated by ford....I'm just making this up. (The people on this forurm are just making this up.
E. Or here's a good one. "Oh you read it on the forum, so now you have the problem".
I have an appointment next week to try and prove my case at the dealership. This should be fun.
One would not expect to have to do this when you buy one of there more expensive cars. But after dealing with my last car, toyota hybrid highlander, Which I got rid of because of this same problem with the service side of things. Looks like this explorer might have it's days numbered. pretty sad for a $52,000 vehicle.
Hi splurph16, welcome to the Forum. :wavey:I recently purchased a 2013 and noticed an exhaust type odor coming from the engine that would enter the cabin when the vents were open. It would also stink around the front of the car, specifically near the front right of the engine. After a lot of hootin and hollering at the dealer, they sent an engineer down to investigate the odor. Turns out, coolant vapors where escaping past the radiator cap and getting blown into the cabin. They tested this out on another 2013 model and found the same issue as well. The dealer ended up replacing the upper and lower hoses, the coolant reservoir, and the cap. Per the dealer, Ford is expected to make a modification to the model later this month due to this issue. Once the new parts were installed, the smell went away. Just wanted to throw this out there incase anyone is experiencing a similar type issue...don't want to be inhaling that stuff while driving down the road.
