I've done this, last year, all working fine, with reverse gauges as well, imported from USA, and they will dim, as LED do so, I've done this myself, having bought a pack of blue LED, and resistors from web, trick is LED doesn't really spread the light as normal bulb, therefore you'd have to play with ones a bit to achieve a correct angle hitting glass diffuser, so it looks good, not that you have spot light inside, on the other hand I have found a new versions of LED on ebay, they do not require resistors and fit existing bulb fitting, didnt have a time to try, but if you're interested, I can let you know when try, so far tested them at home and looks surprisingly good, but look on the table might be deceiving
