So It has started.

I have been looking into a Solid Axle Swap since I converted my Explorer to 4wd. The other day I went to the yard and got one it is a 84 LPD44 out of a 84 jeep for $180. I got it home and started pulling it a part. It is in great shape. Also score some 8.8 Richmond 4.88 and master install kit on Ebay for $225 shipped.<- Hell of a deal if you ask me.

Will get some pics up soon.

Sounds Like a Good Plan , Glad to see Another GA member Active Recently !

Im on here all the time been looking for some people to set up a ride with but your the first Ga person talk in a while.

I'm on here on and off allot , If my Navajo was more reliable I would be down for a meet and maybe some trails , But until I get it fixed up Its not much but a DD that needs work haha

Okay sorry guys been busy. I need to know the easiest setup for steering. Please help.

I would think a single link between the knuckles and then one connected between the passenger knuckle and the steering box. Some guys go with a crossover setup so that there's less bump steer. I'm still looking into it as well since I just got my SAS project going.

I got a 98 sport 2wd I'm about to convert to 4wd. And 00whxploder I'm in leesburg not far from you.

I was thinking that route, but more in reference to treeing box to steering column. I know to get the first gen box bolt the high pressure side up and get a return line end put on stock line. but what link in between.

I think it was Chad551 that had a decent description with his (they're all kinda mixing together right now). I'm not sure on that. Unfortunately I'm headed back to Clemson SC so I won't be back in VA for a while.

I like the black. The chrome looks good too though.

Heck of a deal on the axle setup!!

Did you get 2 sets of gears / master kits for $225?

James Duff has a lot of parts for your conversion specifically made for the RBV. Check them out.

Ruff Stuff also has high grade parts as well, at great prices.

There is a mod for the drive shaft to get more degrees of motion for that LPD44. Involves grinding off a bit of meat on the yolk, and using full circle clips. Search it out for details.

A skid plate for that LPD44 is also a good idea. ;)

I think your 8.8 has a 5 on 4.5" lug pattern, and I think your D44 has a 6 on 5.5" pattern. What's the pattern on those rims??

yes Ranger you are right on both. The rims are universal 6 lugs and I will have to get the hub adapter on the rear.
