turns over and over..and over, just won't fire up/catch. What do you guys think? Distributor? It's weird-No problems whatsoever and hour or 2 prior. Then...this. Any suggestions about what to do for diagnosis or what repair to try first greatly appreciated

There is no distributor on the 4.0. There is a cam position sensor on later years but not on your 91. Check for spark by connecting a plug into a wire, grounding the tip and cranking the engine. Check fuel pressure is adequate using a test gauge. Check that injectors are cycling using a noid light. Check compression.

Check codes.

Yup, Arco covered it. You need 4 things for an engine to run. Spark, fuel, timing, compression. See if you can isolate which of the four is missing.

check the wire connector on the crank sensor . mine did this about 2 yrs ago . payed a garage $40.00 to find this . We have really bad roads here . Wire fell off .
Its in the front of the engine . Access from under front of truck .
