Dropped off the Explorer today for the dealer to get photos for Ford. Water in the 3rd row cup holders and rusted 3rd row seat parts. This is the first time I have ever had to take any of my fords back to this dealer for the same thing. Will update on what they find and what they do to resolve the problem.

And Ford has to pay the Atty. fees when they lose. My atty. is not charging me anything or retainer as the case is easy and they collect from Ford

Witness statements to support CAMVAP case

Is anyone willing to provide witness statements of their water leak and how it was resolved and or not resolved - I am in the process of submitting my case to CAMVAP (the canadian lemon law) and I need to provide evidence to support my case. I already have enough evidence but having witness statements would go along way to support my case. A simlple few liners is suffice...any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Called the dealer to get an update on what they are doing to and when I can get my Explorer back. Service stated that the body shop had it. They also stated they did not have the part numbers to replace the rusted seat parts. They have to remove the 3 rd row seats break them down to parts that they will sand and repaint !! A ford dealer can not get the part numbers to a part on a new ford ?? Now I know why they can not fix the water leak they do not have the part number for a water hose to put water on the roof. No date to get explore back. I hope ford is not lowering their standards to G.M. levels but this dealer sounds like they are way out of the loop and they are with in 5 miles of the escape plant.

Have you tried checking out www.Fordparts.com to see if you can find the parts in question to see if they in fact do have part numbers?

I am aware of these - but it would be nice if I could have a written statement -vs posts on the forums...I already have tonnes of valuable data, pics, etc - but having some other owners speak to the issue at the hearing and or provide a written and signed statement would go a long way.

I will be glad to help when my case is over but really can't until then. Ford has offered me several cash settlements that keep getting higher as the court date gets closer but we are not going for anything less than a total buyback in accordance with the Ohio Lemon Law.

Hi all.

Just want to add my name to growing list of customers with leaking Explorers. My 2011 started leaking by the third row driver's side a few months after we got it. It was traced back to a faulty roof rack seal. Hasn't leaked since. Two weeks ago it poured here in NYC and the passenger's side third row started leaking from the seat belt. I took it to the service center the next day and they worked on it for a while but couldn't find the leak. In all fairness, I could not leave the car overnight so they only had one day to look for it.

As I picked it up, they asked me if I had been in an accident recently because they noticed the rear passenger door was replaced, and if the cause of the leak is from the accident, they would have to charge me. I told them the accident was one year ago and the door panel was replaced because some knucklehead threw their door open as I passed. Their door hit my front passenger fender, damaged that, and scratched the s**t out of my side. The shop found it better to just replace the entire door panels--front and rear.

I can understand it wouldn't fall under warranty if it was due to an accident, but since the accident was a year ago, the leak would have occurred much sooner. I feel they are just trying to weasel some money out of me. I'm taking it back in two days and leaving it until they find the leak.

What other options do I have if they insist it's due to the accident and want to charge me?

Welcome to the Forum atoledo.:wavey:
If you've read through this thread you'd see that this is a very common place for the water to enter the cabin. I'm assuming that you still are covered by the factory or extended warranty from what I've read. I suggest that you contact Crystal (FordService) by sending her a private message re your issue. You can use this link;
http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/private.php?do=newpm&u=157968
When you PM, be sure to include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership in your message.
Good luck.

Peter

Thanks peterk9.

I will contact Crystal and post back my results from when I take it in tomorrow. Also going back for a recall (Electric Power Steering). Don't know if anyone else with a 2011 saw this.

I haven't posted on this issue for sometime....my Explorer has been at the dealer for its 5th week now. The dealer is waiting for a new Panoramic Roof (which is on back order) -why is it that every part is always on backorder? Ford is the #1 selling car manufacturer in Canada - yet every part is on back order? I would expect this from a much smaller auto manufacturer but not Ford?

Anyways I have 2 leaks - the Roof Rack leak (that 95% of us have) they say has been fixed (it took 3 times to fix) - the problem is they never bothered to give it back to me after the fix as they found another leak with the roof. The leak specialist came back - and determined there was a poor seal with the roof and that was 4 weeks ago. Thats how long my car has sat at the dealer with my interior pretty much all apart.

Every panel in the car has been off to fix one issue or another EXCEPT my dash and my two rear door panels.

I am in the middle of dealing with CAMVAP but because my car was a pre paid lease where 95% of the car was paid for in CASH with only a small amount owing CAMVAP considers my 'lease' as a lease and are only willing to give me 36% of what I paid for in cash for the car. I did a pre paid lease in order to get considerable cash savings (with the obvious intent to purchase at the end of the 2 year lease) and CAMVAP is unwilling to even speak to the Leasing GM at the dealer to see what can be done. So as a consumer with a leaking Explorer that has been in the shop for a total of 7weeks for the 13 months I have owned it - I feel like I am screwed. People that finance cars owe more money than I do with my Explorer.

The dealer is trying to help me out and is in the process of talking to Ford themselves to see what can be done.

Eiether way, this whole ordeal has really turned me off the Product. I have owned 9 cars in 18 years - one even had 456Kms and my old Accord had 270Kms, and my old Probe had 290Kms - none of them ever had a panel off to fix anything with the interior. I have had my Explorer 1.1 years (but really 9months) considering how may days it has sat at the dealer - and every panel has been off over 6-7 times each to fix the leak issues ove the the course of 2 months.

I was really **** about maintaing the car - to the point where I wouldnt even let the dealer wash the car because I was worried about getting the blk glossly door pilllars getting scratched now I don't care.

Just to update:

I took in my car this morning for the water leak and they said they have to wait for the "Water Doctor" to arrive so he can check it out. That sounds kind of funny.

I also mentioned the recall. The guy at the service center said its a software update and they won't receive it until July. So is it in my "owner.ford.com" account?

I don't believe this type of update would be in your account. You can always check. Because it's a recall I believe it has to be done at the dealership.

Peter

I meant to say WHY is it mentioned in my account if the dealer doesn't have it yet? I left out the word "why".

I checked my 2011 Limited account although I no longer own the vehicle and don't see any update for the steering issue although it is on the recall list.
Are you currently on MFT/SYNC version 3.6.2? If not, perhaps that is what you are seeing.:dunno:

I'm having my 13 ford escape replaced by ford (Via BBB Autoline arbitration-> they are being forced to replace the car), because I have a leaky A-pillar. I ordered a '15 explorer to replace the escape.

Annnd now I read that the explorers have leaks? Is this associated with moonroof or anything like that? How worried should I be that I'm replacing a leaky car for a leaky car.....

Two primary leaks. Third row roof rack. Easy fix. Also third row seem welding. Not an easy fix. While there are a few posts here on it, I don't think the seem/weld issue is that common and one would expect to be fixed by 2015, but it has cropped up in successive model years. The moonroof has leaked here and there, but gets fixed.

I think the most common has been the third row roof rack 2013 and prior and that is an easy fix if the dealer knows what to do.
