Build Thread: 2000 Eddie Bauer

INsured it yesterday, and I put a stereo in it. A kenwood something or other. I normally hardwire my stereos in, but this time Id figured I try a wiring kit. Only to find out that Eddie Bauer wiring is different from the Regular explorer kit and they dont make one for the Eddie Bauer :p So I hardwired it anyways :p Wired in my amp, a cheap 400 watt thing. Its powering a 10" sub and I figured Id power the stock sub as well. It pounds, but now it needs door speakers :p

The wiring kit is different because you have a factory amp and sub that you have to bypass. ive never tackled that as i have a "regular" explorer but others have had problems. looks like you found a nice work around though.

I bought kits and wired my new head unit to use the factory sub and steering wheel controls too, only thing it doesn't do now is use the 6 cd changer but I don't really care with Bluetooth and USB

The steering wheel controls dont really matter to me, but I was kinda bummed about the changer lol

New alpine 5x7s in the front doors, will be fitting some 6x9s in the back doors soon.

So, I have no voltage at the brown wire on the transfer case, well it kinda ranges. KOEO I was between .5 and 1.5 volts in 4HI. Im debating my options

Fix this one, which is the least appealing because its awd and electronic

Swap in a 1354E, I do have the old one outta my ranger, which I pulled because I had to rebuild the shift motor every month for it to work. Again its electronic

Swap in a 1354M. I know of a wrecker that has one, but they tend to overcharge. But I can look at others. I could also do a 1350M, I did that in the ranger but the front slip yoke is unnapealing and its a weaker case

Hmmmmm

i THINK you will need to make or buy an adapter for the rears. i think those are 5 by 7s as well. i had the same speakers as you but decided to put them in the boat instead.

Great looking truck and $500 is a steal!

Where are you located, im interested in the drivers side running board!

they are indeed 5x7. but 6x8s fit right in, thats what i just put in.

Sorry, you just missed it lol. They both got included on a dump run my dad did on saturday. The metal backing was pretty rotten anyways :p

I am fully expecting to have to build adapters for the 6x9s haha, I just know I want the bigger speakers back there.

I put those ranchos in, I had to cut acess flaps in the cargo floor :( From the top I was able to jam a socket on the 2 for the passenger side and they came easy, I definetly had to cut the 2 drivers side ones. I took the new bolts for the top mount and made a U shaped piece of 1/8 plate steel and welded the bolts to it, so that next time I have to do shocks nothing up top *should* spin :p I was in a rush and kinda had to finish it up, the GF got a last minute job interview I had to drive her to, so I will weld the flaps back up tomorrow hopefully.

Also, I noticed the front driveshaft, the cup at the T case end is a bit sloppy, and it rattles at highway speeds. The noise was worrying me, but now I know its not something coming apart it doesnt bother me haha

It was too quiet, with 4 cats, a big muffler and a resonator on it. I kept all the cats, and welded on this thrush welded muffler, and I will be doing a side exit I just need more piping. Im really suprised with how much I like the sound.

The acess flaps are welded, its been so long since I did the rust repair on my Cortina that I forgot how tedious welding sheetmetal is haha

I did the back brakes today too, the pads were pretty thin. Im going on a quick wheeling trip with a buddy on saturday, but in the mean time I had to take a mall crawler shot :p

I flat blacked the front bumper, as well as the front flares (Did that after the picture) I like it better than gold but that could just be me :p

And I also made a roof basket out of industrial shelving, its very sturdy, My dad used the same stuff to make baskets for his troopers. I threw the spare up there today but Im not sure how I like it, I dont think Ill keep it there

Well I figured out my power steering leak, the bottom join of the hoop on the power steering cooler is leaking, which is much better than the seals in the rack haha
Ill have to pull one from a JY

I also installed some lights on the roof basket, each assembly has 2 bulbs. Im gonna wire is so I can have either one bulb in each light on or both

Also took it out to go for a hike with the girlfriend. Im taking it of road tomorrow for a bonfire with some friends for Canada day

I did take it off road, I took it as far as I could, being that the 4wd isnt working I only made it halfway up the rocky trail and had to stop. I did take it up some dirt trails which it liked, but I only got 3 pictures :p

Coming down from that pic, I turned a bit too sharp going down and the right rear came up off the ground. My ranger never did that, I have to say it was a freaky feeling for the first time, even if it was just 2" off the ground

And I only had enough time to wire up half the roof lights, but even then they are plenty bright. I was going to put 100wt bulbs in but I dont think they need it really

Ive been searching all over for a sport track white guage cluster, with no luck. After the 4 th wrecking yard I decided to go with plan B and grabbed a normal black cluster. I pulled the glass off of the frame and painted it a metallic gray

Im also going in and sanding the green off of the guage overlays, I will be putting blue LEDs in this one. Already done ons overlay and checked to make sure its even, looks good to me

Next paycheck we are getting a 1.75" die and some tubing and we are making bumpers :p Im also planning on making the rear liftgate into some sort of tailgate. I have plans in my head, I just have to work them out. Cheers for now!

Picked up this classic for next to nothing, an old Warn Belleview 8000lb winch :p I gotta see if the motor works

Did you solved the lean bank 1 and 2. My X is saying the same thing, no engine code just a high end scanner
