engine rebuild and body lift questions

Hello everyone
I'm going to be pulling tte trigger on an engine rebuild in june. I'm looking for the best possible mods I can do to the engine and still run the factory ecu if the is at all possible my goal is to run around 300hp if I can I was thinking a mild cam and flat top pistons and maybe shaving the heads I have a 96 explorer with a 5.0 that I swapped in also I am pulling the trigger on a body lift at the end of next month an was wonder what kit I need

If your wanting mild performance rebuild then I would raise the compression ratio to increase the HP. Then some better heads. I would start sourcing mustang performance stores for deals since its essentially a mustang motor. But your wanting around 300hp that's what I would do coming from a mustang guy. I'm gonna do a built 5.0 swap for my explorer if I don't deploy again here soon. Trick flow has heads and cam kits for reasonable prices.
