performance engine?

Hey guys I've been on this forum for a while now and have found it quite useful. I have an 04 Eddie Bauer with the 4.6 V-8. It started knocking now so thinking either pistons or rods. If I could I would like to put a semi performance engine in it. If looked and can't find anywhere that does them. Is there someone that builds these or is this a case where I would just have to rebuild mine using stringer internals etc.? Or is it even worth it?

You've got the same engine as a Mustang GT. Scroll through my posts and you'll see how much power one can get out of it....

^ That throttle body is drive by cable whereas OP likely has a drive by wire.
