Aluminum rim Corrosion 5 spoke tear drop.

title says it all. On my 1997 explorer. my 5 spoke teardrops are peeling their clearcoat and are corroding. What are my options to fix this? I don't want it to get any worse, and I dont have the budget to but new rims right now. What are some of the people in the forum doing to salvage these rims? The rims are scratched up and corroding on the outside just under the clearcoat.

Paint, Plasti-Dip or strip and polish. Paint with good prep work, maybe you'll only do it once. Plasti-Dip, as needed I guess. Strip and polish, a real PITA to do and a bigger PITA to keep up.

I'm going forward with stripping my factory clear coat teardrop wheels this weekend. Did quite a bit of research and found
favorable reviews on Klean Strip Aircraft Peeler aerosol. Found at O'Reilly's for $11 for an 18 ounce can. I'll post my results.
