So I have a 98 ford explorer. When I turn the fan on for heat it runs. But it only runs through the defrost vents. I turn the nob to move to the other ones and it still blows through defrost. But when I turn the nob to off it turns off. I con fused on the while thing.

I donto know if it's just a switch or fuse. But I couldn't find a fuse for it.

The vent control runs on vacuum, hence no fuse. It sounds like you have a leak. Check under the hood for any hissing with the engine running.

X2 on a vacuum leak causing the problem. With the system that operates on vacuum when there is a leak it will only blow out through the defrost vents.

Well I didn't hear hissing but I found 2 loose lines hanging so I put those together. But I have a white line on the driver side that is broken and I do not know where it goes to. ALeo now I'm getting a hard start when cold it takes 10 second or longer to start.
