Why do you suppose Ford quit using the engine cover after 2003 on the Explorers?

The Aviators and the Lincoln Navigators to date, still use engine covers.

The same reason they went away from no-draft windows in 1969, $$$$$$$$.

Not sure, but I took mine off of my 02 the first time I did something under the hood. Threw it away a long time ago.
