I'm talking fully actuated position, in lane change position it works fine.

1995 Explorer Expedition ( aka: 2dr Sport )

Some say TS SWITCH broken
others say TS SWITCH contacts dirty.

I thought maybe the remote start / alarm install guy caused it.
New to me in 2011.
Sorry I'm late with a question.
Couldn't find a TSB on it.

I usually answer questions.

To be fair, the multifunction (turn signal/wiper/hi-lo beam switch) has been known to cause weird things.

It's worth having a spare one to swap out.

Or the flasher is malfunctioning and buzzing?

Same flasher for both sides...left turn fully iniated works fine.

I know I'm dealing with a gremlin here but wiring is my niche.
I own 6 Ford's ....3 from 92-96

This what bothers me with some people installing alarms.

My biggest issue is my unexpected loss of fine Motor skills, physical health ,dexterity and the cold climate.
It used to be Money ;)

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it.

Does the flasher get powered differently depending on which direction is selected?

No.
It either works for both direction or none.

HAZARD LIGHT FLASHER IS DIFFERENT.

Like i tried to explain.

LANE CHANGE position is fine , actual turn right position ......bzźzzzzzzz

I'd lean towards the multifunction switch in my humble opinion.

If you own a 2nd gen Explorer or a Ranger, the scrap yard is your friend. A multifunction switch should be ubiquitous and had for cheap to test such things, not that hard to switch out either. I'd start there anyway.

I had a Ranger do this on me but I can't remember what the cause was.

Clean contacts or replace?

I hate paying for parts.
I think it's only a 20 minute job.

Air bags need disconnected ?

Why does the airbag need to be disconnected to swap the multifunction switch out?
You don't have to pull the steering wheel to do the job and the airbag is on the opposite side of the steering wheel so..Airbag is just 2 5/16 bolts to take off nonetheless.

I think you just split the plastic steering column stuff and get at the switch.

I have no idea if you can clean the contacts, like I said though.. scrap yard.
I personally haven't had any m/f switch issues.

The ? Was missing from the airbag questions.

It sounds like your "multi-function switch" is bad or there's a broken wire/bad connection to it. If you have tilt wheel, try moving the steering wheel full up or full down and see if that makes any difference.

Multifunction switch. my 98 did the same thing. I bought one on ebay that I still have.
I took the original apart, the contacts were all corroded. Cleaned it all and works great.
A bit tricky to get all the pieces back in correctly.

The MFS is easily had brand new for $20. I'm all for saving a dollar where I can, but everything has a limit.

I took mine apart while waiting for the new one to arrive, and ended up fixing. Hindsight, just replace, not worth the PITA to repair.

Thanks for the ideas everyone.

Right now I'm still trying to get the hood open so i can remove the battery thaw it out and charge it so I can use it.
It's been Minus 27-14*C for the last 2 weeks .
