hi iam looking at buying a 02 to 04 v8 explorer and in Australia we dont have much parts for these 4.6ltr engines and they drop timing chains and inlet manifold gaskets leak coolant into the motor, anyway we want to replace the motor with the efi 302 windsor which was available here in Australia till late 03, What i need to know and see a pic of the windsor sump in the American explorer and engine mounts were they the same as the 4.6ltr engine as the windsor. thank you

the 302W is 200% different from the 4.6L. I really do not think it is worth trying to swap. It would be far more worth it to simple do a major service to a 4.6L and go for another 100,000 miles trouble free

Theres heaps of parts on U.S. websites, normally for cheaper then u can get stuff here in Australia mate.
Ur other option however is 5.4L out of an XR8 or GT Falcon.
Theyre a much closer fit to a 4.6L

the 4.6 is rubbish compared to the 5litr windsor and i would not be using the 5.4... heavy engine

I wouldn't say rubbish... Every crown vic taxic and cop car are running 4.6L modulars and they many 100s of thousands of miles.

Not to mention some good horsepower mustangs

I wish the 4 liter inline 6 was offered in the US. One video on youtube showed a falcon with over 1000 hp.

Josh, ya can score a turbo barra motor on ebay plus loom if ya want that power an reliability mate.....Dunno bout fitting in an aerostar tho :D

One can dream.....
