you should get your mommy to buy you a chevy, cry babyLol. Thermostat housing is probably cracked or the rad tanks are shot. Pretty common among many many other failures on these things. Hope you have a stocked tool box. Welcome to ford.
Yeah, the 4.0 is a pretty failure prone. The timing setup is absolute garbage. Had I done a little more research before I bought mine I wouldn't have. Although the Ranger I ordered from the factory that this one replaced had the same engine, My guess is I just didn't have enough mileage on that for it to start breaking down. It seemed to have more transmission issues. It was in the shop 5 times in 600000 kms for slave cylinder replacements. Once more and I was getting a new transmission I was told by the dealership.Haha I hope that's all it is at this point! My last car was a 15 year old Ford Ka, it cost $300 and looked like crap but had a solid engine. That car could be fixed with tape, I would do anything to get it back right now.
My 02 went coolant to combustion chamber when the head gasket blew. it would burn a lot of coolant and get hard to start if it sat for more than a day, but it never overheated or got coolant in the oil... until the one time that it finally overheated and the head gasket went the rest of the way.My Explorer 2010 4.0 V6 XLT is in trouble, as am I. When you spend a quarter of your annual salary on what should have been a reliable vehicle from a trusted private seller and it perishes a week later, everything can seem a little hopeless. Googling hasn't helped much with the rising panic. After topping up the reservoir this morning, I drove the 12 minutes to work and the leak was far worse this time. It's now in the hands of one of the drivers at work who will arrange for it to be taken (flat bed!!!! Not driven!) to a Ford specialist. The temperature gauge has not once flickered above normal so I still live in hope that the head gasket hasn't blown. No water in oil etc. Being unable to communicate properly is the absolute cherry on the top.
Please tell us your stories of success, those times you thought all was lost but then you got another 100k out of it. That kind of thing.
if it's so bad why are you still driving it.......................not the sharpest tool in the shed......maybeCheck out my signature link if you want a tale from the brink...... I'm going to pick up an alternator today.
Lol, it's all part of the plan. I was expecting it to last 5 years while I bought a 400k house. Pay the camper off and then a new truck. After the repairs I will probably be about a year later then original expectations. But in all seriousness opinions are like hemeroids, they irritate assholes.if it's so bad why are you still driving it.......................not the sharpest tool in the shed......maybe

not if you get the IMA hybrid (CRZ, Insight, Civic). My CRZ hasn't used the starter motor more than once in the last 35K miles.Hondas eat starters

My wifes 2004 4.0 had 285,000 miles before we got rid of it. The transmission is what is prone for failure (5R55). It was the 3rd tranny. They are designed not to exceed 100K miles. Mine is an 06 with the 4.6 3v. Love itMy Explorer 2010 4.0 V6 XLT is in trouble, as am I.
