I need to pick up or order White Platinum Pearl (UG) to repair the hood paint bubbles. Has anyone found an online supplier that has been good to buy from? We have NAPA and OREILLY locally, but I couldn't locate anything on their web sites.

Instead of using a touch up paint which will be hard to match I would just go ahead and have the hood repainted by a body shop and be done with it.

Finshmasters. They are nationwide. I believe they can put paint in spray cans. Unless you are good at spray painting, blending, clear coating, wet sanding and polishing I would have it done at body shop.

Best available is automotivetouchup.com

I have the UG also and even Fords paint pen/bottle doesnt match up. I knew it wouldn't because UG is a tri-coat paint.

The UG paint is almost impossible to touchup perfectly, I have 2 UG cars now and one previous that that I've used touchup paint to conceal road rash & chips.
One time I had a touchless dent specialist come to the house and he did a better job than I did but it was still a 'fair' job. He suggested a complete respray at his shop when the chips and road rash got bad enough. His quoted price for a complete hood respray was $500.

Having said that, here are some choices for DIY touchup kits:

Thanks for all the advice. I discussed the paint bubbles with the dealership when I bought it. I did get an additional $250 off. It is a 2012 with 94k on it. It is actually pretty minor compared to some other hoods I've seen. I'm considering a adding some wrap to the front of the hood or a bug deflector. What would be the best action to prevent further bubbling?

Well if you are adding a bug shield then buy the bug shield (I suggest AVS aeroskin) mark off where it will sit on the hood, then sand, prime and paint that area with paint from automotivetouchup.com and install the bug shield.

Thanks, I just found the automotivetouchup.com site this afternoon. I've done some body work with okay results on inexpensive older vehicles... typically a rust spot, so it wasn't difficult to make an improvement. The UG color has more depth, so I'm worried about screwing up my whole hood for a few minor spots. I also ordered the EXPLORER letters to add to the front of the hood, but I need to find a solution to the bubbles before sticking them on.
I guess, my next question is... now that I found a paint supplier, is:

Has anyone successfully stopped the paint bubbling without going to a pro?

Honestly, if its just the hood and the vehicle is in great condition and you plan to keep it, just have a body shop respray it.

Unfortunately neither will actually prevent further bubbling since it is a problem with the aluminum hood itself. All either of them will do is hide it.
