Undecided repair

Ive got a 2002 ranger xlt with the 4.0 in it with 224,000 miles on it. I bought it used and have had it for about 9 years. Seems im at the point that its starting to break down on me. I just had the tire rods and such replaced, and now the AC is locking up or slipping (Makes a really bad clicking) and I dont know if i wanna put money into it. Ive never done anything really major besides the tire rods so i am at a crossroad.

What is your suggestion?

Now the AC..It will cost me minimum $300 to replace it. How do I get it to run right without replacing the compressor. I can roll windows down

Sounds like the compressor is toast, one of two options, replace it or don't.
I'm at a similar place with my 02 XLT, once I sort out my ABS light; my non-functioning A/C will be next. Its paid for, and gets me to work faithfully everyday so, I'm not adverse to spending a little on it.
