07 Eddie Bauer V8

Hi,

I used to have a 92 Explorer XLT years ago and was somewhat active here then. After all this time I recently sold my 08 Legacy 2.5GT spec.B and picked up this Explorer. My plan is to use it as my daily driver and use it to tow my Miata to some track days :)

The plan for now is to do some baseline maintenance, plugs (praying they don't break in two), fuel filter, air filter, and a transmission service.

How it looked when I brought it home. Had a windshield banner tint which blocked my view out, bug deflector and rain guards right out of the autozone special section.

Changed the spark plugs today, fortunately they were not the original ones so I didn't have any break.

Finally used it for it's intended purpose.

A while back I had ordered some Rancho Quick Lift Loaded shock/spring assembly. I finally installed them this weekend. My Harbor Freight Earthquake impact paid huge dividends and easily broke loose all the nuts/bolts for the project. Some of the bolts have an install torque of 250 ft lbs  Overall the install went pretty well and its now riding a little higher, but the average person wouldn't really know it was lifted until you park it next to another 4th gen Explorer. Next up is wheels/tires, probably this fall/winter.

Don't freak out too much about the ball joint angle on this picture as it was freshly installed never compressed. Once the truck was back on the ground the angle is much better an it should settle more.

Ordered wheels and tires last weekend with the discount tires direct discounts. They were finally delivered today and I love how it looks. They are 16x8 +25 with 265/70/16 Cooper Discoverer AT3's

And went back to the stock wheels today :( Went from getting 15-17mpg without too much effort to struggling to get 14.5 with lots of highway driving. They also really killed the power, to the point of when I was towing a 3000lbs trailer I was stuggling to get to speed timely.

Threw the other wheels and tires back on for better traction, then drove up to Baxster to fool around in the snow for a while this afternoon.

Looks like you had fun. We got hardly any snow here in Colorado.

Who knows, he said his foot slipped off the brake pedal.

Just got the call from the body shop, they are saying $6300 in damage to the Exploder. Might be totaled.... Waiting to hear back from the insurance company to be sure.
