I thought I ran across something that showed a fuse you could pull to reset the transmission adaptations.

Anyone seen it and remember off the top of their heads?

Worst case I think we can do it with forscan?

Disconnecting the battery will erase all saved PCM (amongst other) settings.

I was doing some research and a lot of it says that it will not reset the trans adaption?

You mean the adaptive learning? I don't know much, but you might be able to reflash your as built data through forscan, I would imagine that would reset everything.

That's from what I understand, could be wrong though.

Fuse 1 in the power distribution unit under the hood. 10 Amp fuse.

Forscan will work also but you need the license.

The Manuals up to and including the 2015 Explorer had the following info in them. It disappeared with the 2016+ Manuals.

Automatic Transmission Adaptive Learning
This feature is designed to increase durability and provide consistent
shift feel over the life of the vehicle. A new vehicle or transmission may
have firm shifts, soft shifts or both. This operation is considered normal
and will not affect function or durability of the transmission. Over time,
the adaptive learning process will fully update transmission operation.
Additionally, whenever the battery is disconnected or a new battery
installed, the strategy must be relearned.

Unfortunately with that you have to go through the most of the other adaptive relearns as well.

Pulling the fuse for the PCM makes it only have to learn that.

They shift terrible after a new battery. Sloppy as an old Taurus

You need to look up the relearn procedure, because IIRC, it has specific actions to take after reset.

Yep, already did that.

I had a 1-2 5mph shift issue that the dealership couldn't replicate. I have forscan and reset the adaptive shift and haven't had an issue since.

I reset mine through forscan
