supercharged 5.0 true fire 98 explorer sport

hi everyone, my name is tim . i live in selkirk, manitoba, canada and as if this date that i am posting this, i am 36 years old.

i bought my sport in jan 05 from a local ford dealer. it had 111,000KM's on it. this is the second sport i have owned. it was sitting on the lot for about 8 months before i came along. i am the third owner (i was able to track down the person that traded it in, and they got it from a friend, who bought it new in 98).

i started to do a few things to it after i first got it, then i found this site, and all hell broke lose! i've never been satisfied with something the everyone else has, so i started to tinker with it even more.

plus you know you have done something right when.....

your truck (as well as corkey) wins truck of the month

http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=296023

is the feature truck on the fun hump day radio show (starts roughly around the 30 min mark)

http://explorerforum.podbean.com/2011/03/23/19-vroom-zoomboom/

and you drive 26 hours ONE WAY to the carlisle all ford nationals in june 2010 and 2011, and grab second place in the s.u.v. all category!

scan00012.jpg

then in 2014 you go back to the same show you have been to 5 years in a row (nothing by most, but its one hell of a long drive) and take first!

It's going to take a bit of modifying to get that unit to fit. If I remember correctly, the center hood latch support doesn't need to be cut up.

i had to buy a brand new sawsall in the fall :D

wheredahellibeen?
busy.
its warming up! YAY......with the exception of the BLIZZARD that went on this morning. yes. all the snow was pretty much gone then that happens. evil and my supercharger literally was shoved into the corner for the last couple of weeks due to a 04 sport trac finding its way into the driveway/yard. the good, it only has 101,000kms on it, or for you muricans, 62,000 miles on it. yes, that little of mileage. the bad, death rattle. the good, found a 09 mustang 4L with only 30,000kms on it or 18,600 miles for $400. the bad, i found out the hard way a mustang flex plate is different then a explorer flex plate. the good, my son and i lined up the motor, had 2 bolts on the mounts, and bellhousing and all the converter bolts in on friday night. spent a hour doing that. went out saturday and started at about 1pm. by 8 i turned the key. i think that may have been the fastest i have ever put a motor in by myself. dono and i once managed to pull his motor out, strip it to the long block, and have it back in and running in 2 days.
anyway enough about my rambling, this showed up today.......sorta......

the inntercooler core showed up. and wow. what a journey that was. ordered the first one. it was a day or two away when i realized i ordered the wrong one. had to send it back at a highway robbery shipping cost, and restocking fee. then they were just about to send the next one, when i realized THEY were going to ship the wrong one. caught that one by the skin of my teeth. i problbaly made don and myself look like idiots to bell inntercoolers as well. why do i say it sorta showed up? don has it sitting on his desk at work. he sent me these pics (he asked me if he could open it to see what it looked like, and i also wanted to know lol) so technically he has it and could do as he pleases lol. so i may have to wait till i sell the trac to get the tanks made and put in the mount. the core ended up being way more then i thought with shipping x2, exchange, and other bs us canucks have to go through when ordering things from the states.
thanks again for you help don.....and a shoulder to cry on after seeing the final bill

It looks small, but big at the same time, because of the depth to it.

I think my wife said that to me once. I don't think it was a compliment. lol

edit: I'm just thinking how I can make this high end core work in my truck. If I'm going to do something with it, I better move fast.

Yank that TFS upper intake off, and super fast weld a box right there to house that IC.

Where is that going to reside? It looks small, but big at the same time, because of the depth to it.

I can tell you it’s going in a very uncomfortable place, and it is small but big.
Under the supercharger :D
That’s why I have that big space between the supercharger and the bottom of the mount. This time I wanted to be able to put a cooler in it, as well as I wanted to spend more money........said no one ever.
Don, I changed my mine, I’m going to be at your office in 5 mins :D

I was thinking that is where it would go, but that size had me thinking otherwise. Yeah, I know jack about this stuff, and it shows. lol

The last few posts really had me laughing good. I needed that today, as work on a Monday has been crappy. :)

lol
That's a nice looking core!
How come you didn't have them make/attach the end pieces?

Better hurry Tim, it looks like a fit.

Funny. Well not that funny, but funny :D

lol
That's a nice looking core!

I am having someone local making the tanks that I will need for it. He is going to set it a little lower then the top of the mount because he can make it ramp down a bit and not block off the outlet of the supercharger which I think might be one of the reasons why I can’t get more boost then I have with the m112. That and location of the inlets will matter also because I have to dance around my fuel lines as well. I didn’t want to ship the mount down to them because the cost of shipping, labor and the exchange would have made me faint.

its been a killer week for me. i somehow manged to sell that sport trac i was talking about in 2 DAYS and made out like a bandit on it as well. so now that i am not captain cashless, i can move forward with the cooler which i manged to get out of dons hands today (it looked like he was trying to fit it in his truck when i got there, but i have no solid prof of it).
i am also guessing it will fit something like this

it kinda looks tiny in there, but thats what the guy who will be building everything told me to get, so it is what it is. i might try and get hold of him tomorrow and see if he wants to start on it, but not holding my breath being easter weekend and all but it seems like drag racers and builders never take holidays

This is going to be so awesome, keep up the good work!

This weekend was get most of the crap that both of my trucks have annoyed me with all fall and into the winter. First up evil. Towards the end of fall I could hear a exhaust tick on the drivers side. Pulled everything apart but couldn’t get the header out. I’ve been able to do this before on the drivers side without taking everything apart including taking the header apart. This time no dice. However when I pulled the header back the gasket looked ok. Fingers crossed new gasket went in (old and new are remflex, start it up......tick tick tick tick..... when I stuck my head into the wheel well I happen to see a strand of fiber on the shifter cable floating around. Put a flash light in and saw a very small crack on the header. Dono to the rescue. He happen to have a drivers side header and let me use it

8AAFD31B-4C93-40E2-9FB2-9B794D9EEA52.jpeg

. However after pulling the header out (unbolting the front dress and some carefull and forceful manoeuvring this time thanks again Dono) I cant see it now. That’s frustrating.... I have now however found a new way of getting blend door actuators out of Rangers. It does involve a saws all but that’s a different story for a different day

update, but not really a update. once......again..... this has been pushed to the side. not one but 2 (yes, two) rangers followed me home within 5 days of each other. one is a (and the first ever i have bought) 03 2wd edge. it hasnt ran since 2011, or so the guy i bought it from told me. fuel pump wouldnt turn on, and found it was dead. after pulling it out, and seeing the nice coffee colored gas that was in the tank i am glad it didnt work. new pump, gas, and some other odds and ends, and it runs great. also now have it for sale. the other is a 05 level 2 that was plastered with the most gaudy of "bolt on's" and even some "stick on's" *shakes head* that i am starting to work on now. i did call the guy doing the cooler for me earlier this week. he has the metal bent for the tanks, but thats about it. i told him i was just seeing how it is coming, and not pushing for it because lets face it, i need 2 of me lately. that and i still have a little work left to do to the valley pan that needs to be done before it can all bolt together. i was thinking maybe mid summer it will be on. still might be once again, but i know a few people that would have a heart attack if there was two of me walking this earth, so we will have to see.

last couple of days have been pretty bumpy here for me to the point of wanting to jump into my ranger and drive to all ford nationals because i need a mind clearing drive and i havent been to AFN for years. sold (more like gave it away by accident because i didnt know what 2wd rangers went for) the ranger edge i had mentioned in a record breaking 16 hours after putting it up for sale.called the guy thats making everything for the cooler. he said he had the tanks bent up but that was about it. im not really rushing him with it either. i asked if he could shoot some pics as he went along and send them to me. he didnt have a problem with it. also bought another part for the puzzle off kijiji (the canadain version of Craigs list).

61502321_354095235251124_6326815168667844608_n.jpg

scored a meziere inline single in, dual out 20 gmp pump. used, but also haft the price i would have paid for a new one.

That looks like a cool design with two outlets. I use the same pump with a single outlet and it has been working great.
Use them on both my Supercharged Explorers.
I run mine all the time too so it has been put through its paces and is still going.

the guy doing the cooler for me sent these to me this morning
