2006 ford explorer -evaporator core replacement?

i have a 2006 explorer with a 4.6. it has the basic hvac on it. no rear air. how hard is it to change the a/c evaporator core? do i have to pull the whole dash?

Yes dash has to be pulled back at least to passenger seat to get the evap box out.

ive pulled out a bunch of mustang fox body dashes in the past. does the whole box gotta come out or does it come apart in sections?
also does anyone have a pdf of how to do it

You seem very sure that the evaporator core is at fault. How did you come to this conclusion?

I heard hissing in the vents and a cloud of freon came through the vents as I got out of the truck. Is there something else in there that it could be?
