But loyal or not, you guys are right. And it'd be a HECK of alot easier to just fly. I found out you can ship boxes from AK for about 30 bucks a box so we won't lose EVERYTHING...

I totally understand the emotional attachment thing (my being Scorpio)...But I think your decision is for the best. However many miles you were considering with a constant chorus of "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?", multiplied by the dread of something critical plopping-off just south of Mt. Rushmore, and you just don't have the recipe for a Great Family Adventure.

You certainly sound like your family has more than the average share of Pioneer Spirit, but I can't help but think this could have turned into major stress for the kiddos. That said, you mentioned you can ship for $30/box? If you can just find two really big boxes....

P.S...The boxes are for the CARS (take the kids on the PLANE)....
