Ford - Sync3 Map Update

Seems like it just went live in the last few days. Maps should be free for a number of years (want to say 3 but not totally sure). For future reference.

I get error #016, call customer support.

This was also posted in the 5th gen Forum the other day. Why is there a charge for owners of 2017 Explorers and free for 2018+ ?

Missed that one. Someone somewhere decided 18+ would be the cut off? No idea to be honest.

Might not have the newest VINs in? Anything MY20 already has the latest ones, and a number of MY19’s as well.

I put in my 2017 Sport VIN, my 2020 is in transit.

No error when I tried for our 2017 MkC, but $109 for a download that is almost a year out of date seems a bit much. Then again we are rolling on NA 15, which is probably 2014 data.

Ahh, OK. I've seen a few folks report issues with that site. Must be some kinks left in it. They got around it by calling in the order.

I did this for my 2020 ST. Put VIN in and it told me it was a 2010 and no update was aailable??

I don't think there are any updates for our 2020's. No one here has reported finding any update available.

Correct, the next map update isn't available yet.

How old is the map data from Telenav, the supplier of the maps program to Ford that is in our '20 MY vehicles ? I've tried to enter addresses for businesses that show up on Google maps, not so on the Ford nav. These are not new stores. They have been open at least a year.

It's the HERE data from 18Q1, which soon switches to 19Q1. The standard lag time for the current gen.

So are you saying it is updated yearly ? And, by the 31st of this mo being the end of 20Q1, will update again using the information gleaned in 2019 ?

UofM, is there a way for the Sync 3 specialist at my serving dealer to program the system so that Google maps has full screen coverage in the same way TeleNav does ?
