Does anyone know if there are any larger sway bars available out there? I have looked in all the usual places with no luck. I would like to add lowering springs and bigger bars front and back.

I did a quick 'Search' and did not find any posts where members installed larger sway bars on their vehicles. FYI, there are several threads in the "Modified" subforum on lowering the Explorer. You can find them using the 'Search' feature. The only reference to "sway bars" there was having to detach and move them to get better access for the work they were doing.

I never found any. The Sport & PIU both use the same ones as the rest of the line.

I wonder why there is so little interest in improving the handling of these SUV’s?

Maybe there is no real handling issue. I haven't had any. Given what it is. I think it handles just fine.

There is nothing wrong with the handling per se, I just see room for improvement. Every vehicle I have owned in the last 45 years, I have “improved” the handling- some with bigger bars, some with lowering springs, some with larger diameter wheels and lower profile tires, some with larger brakes, some with all the above.

I haven't compared every single suspension part, but according to the autonation part site, the bulk of the suspension hard parts on the explorer seem to carry the same exact part number as those on the PIU. Shocks/struts are different - probably different rebound and damping.

The PIU has pretty decent handling for a 5K+ pound pig of an SUV. Maybe you should try driving one to see how the handling compares to your limited. If you prefer it, you could try upgrading to the PIU shocks/struts. There are some electronic nannies (ABS/TC/ESC/RSC) that vary between Explorer/PIU models and affect handling, but I don't think there is any way to change those easily. The PIU ride can be pretty harsh for day to day driving, especially on ****ty roads.

Outside of engine tuning, the explorers aren't exactly a "tuner" car or track car, so they have little to no aftermarket support. As with anything though, if you want it bad enough and have the cash, you can pretty much get anything you could want or need. Just be careful as larger bars can cause other problems with the rest of the suspension parts...

Muscle Car Restorations, Inc. - Classic Car Restoration Specialists I've seen a few they have done for older cars, so I don't see why they couldn't do the same for a newer vehicle, but you'd have to ask them.

If you don't mind losing the 3rd row, you can add a frame brace?

I’m going to work on losing the third row seats this coming summer. I would value a hidden storage area much more than seats that have never been sat in and never will be. I might just add a unibody brace while I am at it. BTW, the bro-in-law just bought an ‘18 edge sport and I took it for a ride- that thing is pretty darn quick! Just not enough storage room for me.

Sorry, I know this is an old thread. Steeda now has a rear sway bar available.

Steeda does have a rear sway bar upgrade and I installed it about 3 weeks ago. Unbelievable improvement in stability of the car, especially cornering. It does firm up the ride a bit, but not to the point of being harsh.

Would it help torquesteer on a FWD explorer in anyway?

Some believe it may, but the answer is no.
Thanks, appreciate it. I emailed Steeda and asked if they are making any suspension improvement parts for the front of any Explorer and they said not yet but they’re design team is looking

Would the Steeda sway bar offer any improvement on a Sport model?

Yes, most def
Great. Can you quantify the improvement? What are the improvements in standard testing that it provides? Higher speed in skid pad testing? What? Shaves 3 seconds off the lap time at the ring? Anything besides just most def, my butt dyno feels something different fo shizzle?
