I need to replace the alternator in my 2013 Explorer with the 3.5 V6. It looks buried on the passenger side. Anyone have a good starting point?

Thank you,

Dave

You might take that side wheel and well liner out to see if that improves accessibility. Beyond that, I'd look for 5th gen explorer youtube videos of alternator replacement.

I went out and looked at mine, 2014 3.5L... Yes it's tight in there, did a bit more research and it looks like you need to take the wheel well liner out, the air filter box, then the fan assembly, then you can get to the alternator.

Did it explain why the air filter box needs removed? Alternator is on other side of motor.

To detach that side of the fan assembly. I don't know if the airbox removal is necessary, or just makes it easier to see what you're doing.
