Engine Removal on 2002 Explorer

Hi,
New to sight and enjoy lots of good info. My question is how to remove top tranny bolts to remove engine. I am replacing the motor. Do I have to remove the center console like on 3rd gen explorers to access them?

No you can lay underneath and get to them with long extensions and swivels. I suggest a impact and extra set of hands will help. We took the inner splash guards in the fender well to access with a gear wrench. I have taken the air intake off as well to get to the top ones in the bell housing. I am currently working on getting my tranny out on the 02 that I am going to flip it needs valve cover gaskets so I have the air intake off this one to to gain access to the top side bolts. It is a bit more work but it much easier and cuts down on my cussing!

I have a 2002 4.0 V6.
I think I might have to pull mine & put in a donor.
Any other helpful links out there?
