i ran the 17x9 R's with no spacers. it will all depend on if you are lowered or not, and what size tire you go with. if you are lowered, the inside of the wheel lip could rub on the lower control arm. if you run a fairly big tire, the tire could rub on the swaybar. both of these issues would only be at full turn.
for the control arm- you could grind off a little on the lip of the lower control arm, or replace the stock steering limiter with a bolt. this will give you an adjustable steering limiter, which you could set to stop the spindle before the rim makes contact. same thing if the tire rubs the swaybar. it will not reduce your turning radius all that much.
