is tranny bad?

I have a 1994 ex xlt and the tranny pours out fluid from the bell housing at times and other times it dosent. It just started to take 30 seconds to shift into drive or reverse out of park. At times it also seems like it wants to slip as well. Is my tranny bad? if so i have a 91 parts ex with a good tranny will it work in my 94? Id preciate if someone would reply thanx!

Bad is a relative term. Sounds like the front pump seal could do to be replaced and the low/reverse servo cover repaired which is likely causing your delayed engagement problem.

The tranny is basically the same. The 94 has some improvements that make it a little stronger. 94 is the last year you can put another transmision in from without a lot of electrical changes.
