What is this thing good for?

Maybe someone could look under his hood and tell if there is a hose on it or not. I saw a video from another Explorer that also didn't have a hose on there. This thing seemed even not to have a hole.

    Differences between 2006, 2007, and 2008 Explorer

As far as I can remember, the 2006 does not have the head airbags.

Which brake fluid should be used? DOT 3, DOT 4, or DOT 5.1?

How much brake fluid will I need to do a change on a 2006 - 2010 Ford Explorer V6? The user manual does not contain such information.

Which brake fluid should be used? DOT 3, DOT 4, or DOT 5.1?

There is a video on the german ATE website, where a specialist explains, why not to use DOT 4 in a DOT 3 brake system. He says, it's because of boric acid ester in DOT 4 and 5.1 brake fluids, which is able to destroy rubber parts in DOT 3 brake systems and could so lead to a complete brake failure.

Which brake fluid should be used? DOT 3, DOT 4, or DOT 5.1?

I've read a lot about this. Some say, DOT 4 is only a newer version of DOT 3 and can be used. But a few years ago, a friend told me that his garage used the wrong brake fluid and damaged the seals and hoses of his Explorers brake system. Can you tell me your experience?

Coolant leaking from heater hose above thermostat housing

It's much easier to buy a new sensor with o-ring instead of searching for the single o-ring. You will not get the o-ring as a single spare part and nobody knows its exact measurements. I had already bought Ford's metal thermostat housing kit, which includes a new sensor. But I couldn't use this...

Coolant leaking from heater hose above thermostat housing

After a pressure test it looks like the reason is the o-ring of the temperature sensor which causes the leaking. The complete sensor had been replaced together with the thermostat housing two years ago, so I am surprised that the sensor already is leaking. I have to say that it is a third...

What is your opinion about this Continental POLY-V Belt & Tensioner Kit?

I'm thinking about replacing these parts on my 2007 V6 Explorer at about 100,000 miles. Has anyone already installed such a kit and can tell me if it's worth buying it? https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/cel-k49250b

Coolant leaking from heater hose above thermostat housing

No, unfortunately not. That was my first question when I went back to him. He was pretty sure, that the leaky hose was the reason for the leaking and that replacing it would solve the problem. He wants to make a new pressure test tomorrow. In the meantime I lowered the hose clamp and today I...

Coolant leaking from heater hose above thermostat housing

gdgiordano meant above, that it could be that the hose clamp could be not enough down. So I went to my car and had a look. Hm, could be he is right. The mechanic could have fixed it a little bit too high ... I lowered the clamp about 3 mm, cleaned and dried everything. Tomorrow I will drive some...

Coolant leaking from heater hose above thermostat housing

Last year the thermostat housing had been replaced with a complete (plastic) Motorcraft thermostat housing (upper and lower), including thermostat, sensor and o-rings. It had been modified by me. As you can see at the picture below, now there are bolts and nuts that press the layers together...

Coolant leaking from heater hose above thermostat housing

The mechanic already used a pressure tester and identified the bottom of the hose as the location of the leak. Then he changed the hose with a new one (Motorcraft) and after that he didn't make another pressure test. I took the car home and the next day I saw that it is still leaking at the same...

Coolant leaking from heater hose above thermostat housing

The little heater hose which sits on the top of the thermostat housing was leaking at the bottom of the hose. I inspected the housing which had been replaced last year. Seems to be ok. No coolant to find around the housing or the sealings. Coolant can be only found at the top of the housing...

    about Remote Keyless Entry

I had never had a problem with programming a remote from ebay as long as they use the right frequency.

    AC Compressor Rattle at Idle

Same symptoms here. Rattling only when A/C is on. But also no rattling when transmission is in neutral position.

    about Remote Keyless Entry

Yes, buy one from ebay. Doesn't matter that you have only one left. Have a look into your car's manual.
