Well.....try this.......go to some internet auto parts place,.....look up timing gear sets for the 93 and the 97.......or go to your local Napa,autozone, etc........get them to look up parts......see if they are the same......that might (I say might) tell you what you need to know.......

I don't know what all sensors the computer uses to send signals to the tcc..but I know there is a signal sent from the brake switch.....if you tap the brake pedal while driving, does the clutch disengage then engage?....if so, there is one very small chance that maybe the brake switch adjustment...

Yep... understand your dilemma......the tap test will just let you know if the tcs is disengaging and engaging the converter lockup....it's not 100 percent test.......how bout if you pull the connector off the tcs and then go for a drive.

Be sure your plugs and wires are good. If they're bad, it will mimick your cap and rotor problem. My tranny was doing what yours was, and it was bad plug wires.....and try the brake pedal tap test, that will test the tcc...also try driving the van in a lower gear and see if the problem still...

R u trying to change settings, or diagnose a problem.....if you drive at a steady speed , and tap the brake pedal, you should feel the lockup disengage and then 're-engage, ......I think the under dash computer is for abs, I don't have access to my manuals so I'm not sure...but you can't...

My 92 has a vacuum modulator....if yours has that, check it out and the line going to it...as Brooklyn Bay said, adjust the band's............when was the last time you completely changed all the fluid.....and the filter............

Sorry. Shoulda told you there is a computer module right under the center of the dash above the doghouse.....I always take that off.....taking off the cup holder helps also......

On my 92 3.0, the pcv valve is on the left rear valve cover....the engine cover (doghouse) has latches .

well.....it appears that by pulling and putting the w.o.t. relay back in , the "problem" is fixed....i had cleaned those relays a few years ago and used dielectric grease for further protection.....
