As an alternative you can run a vehicle health report which will report back the update, much easier if you have a Mac. Of coarse your mobile phone number must registered on your Ford support account and when you run the report Ford support must not be down for maintenance.

I've upgraded my Explorer and Escape, both magically saved the Navigation favorites during the install. I'm guessing Ford finally wrote a small subroutine that copied the saved favorites off to the USB thumb drive and then copied them back to the system after the upgrade.

Thank you for trying to duplicate. I called tech support and Russell couldn't duplicate either with 3.6.2, actually he said he got no popups at all, which doesn't make sense. With 3.5.1 he at least got the small "phone disconnected" popup that went away quickly. So, same phone too different...

That's my guess too. Did you read that somewhere or did your dealer confirm that? But the more I think about the OP's issues it's most likely not a loose cable, but still worth checking if the dealer can do it. I suggested a loose connection because the system used to sync up rather quickly...
