    My guess is you've got a leaking intake manifold gasket. On the OHV engine that gasket runs under the rocker cover similar to the old 390 V8. When it leaks, it pulls oil from the rocker gallery. Since oil reduces the octane of the mixture, you get pinging. Also the air leakage will cause...
