    Does anyone know if the lower thermostat housing has a gasket between it and the block? If not should you use any type of form a gasket to keep it from leaking ?     Can shift flare happen from a dead stop (ie stoplight). My 5r55e seems to slip out of gear from a dead stop, then boom it engages.     intermittent no go from dead stop

    99 explorer 5r55e transmission; From a dead stop every so often It feels like it wants to engage and then boom it does and depending on how much acceleration is applied dictates how hard it engages. This does not happen all the time but seems more often on a slight incline. Any thoughts?

    cam chain guide noise

    Has anyone come up with a fix for the cam chain guide noise in the 4.0 SOHC. Its in a 99 explorer . My engine sounds like a bunch of bolts rattling around in a tin can. :(

    ABS system

    99 explorer, I recently changed my speed sensor located in the rear diff.. It send s info for the tranny and abs . Now when you just about come to a complete stop the abs engages. The abs is functioning but at the wrong time. Any info would be great.

    Transmission model numbers.

    I'm brand new to this site,anyhow one is a 99 (xl2p-DA)and the other is a 2000(1L5p-EA). I want to put the 2000 in the 99 . The 2000 has one extra sensor. Its just above the transmission range sensor.My thinking is ; If their is no wire to plug in then the pcm will not be looking for it anyway.
