any 4.6l SOHC should work. its the intake, throttle body, etc thats different. 02 and i think 03 has the cable. my 05 is drive by wire. 04 is the year they went drive by wire i believe.

Update: I replaced both C?V axles with aftermarkets from rockauto. When I replaced I initially started grinding down that section of the bottom A-Arm. but then i realized the boots on the joint were smaller than stock boots. So I only grinded down one side.... I shortened the sway bar links...

I just did one in a Mustang, fairly easy. I have an engine cradle support from harbor freight. Lifted the engine up 2-3 inches and the pan slide right out.

If the truck is in good shape enough to do A Swap, I would. $3k for a reman'd installed is a good deal considering.......a remand tranny on Rockauto is a hair over 2k....

Just an Update... has 194k on her now, Only thing Ive HAD to do recently was replace the A?C compressor because the electrical connection was making sporatic contact and had to fix since summer is here. I sold a 02 Ranger FX4 a few months ago and dumped about 4k into upgrades for her...

Hence the reason I went ahead and replaced mine when my dad owned it before I bought it. Prolly had 130k on it. still intact but replaced anyway. A friend of a freind had a rattle in his 02 a few years back, i pulled front cover and the guides were in 6 pieces.
