    aligning positives and negatives, Camber!

thanks 410, will be looking into changing sleeves. i did replace the radius arm bushings recently. why would the RA bushings move? not tightening the big nut enough or simply cheap bushings? thanks.

    aligning positives and negatives, Camber!

the problem... i park the Ex and it has a positive camber. if i let it roll a couple of feet, the tires are now in a negative camber. roll some more, and it is back to positive. i have replaced the front springs and all steering linkages. have not had it aligned. yet. there is play at 12...

Hey! New old guy (80) from sunny SoCal.

welcome. the smart-ass in me would relish in voting for option "C". best case scenario is that you hold off for 12 months. once you're 81 years young, get the second-year model and live it up with that one. that first-year model is sure to be improved on.

the sitting of the uncooperative coil spring!

well, i got crazy removing metal. some metal. just a tiny bit. so check it out... (blurry flashback effect) finally got to the space where i can work on her. i removed both springs. here is a side-by-side of 'em... the spring that did not sit properly is on the right. doesn't it seem like...

much thanks to all on this thread! luckily each time i cold-started, the chirp faded out until the chirp was heard no more. rip bird. still! there was this one time where the belt unleashed a dance beat like none other. an ass-shaker. add some strobes and fog makers, club Ex. i'll work on...

the sitting of the uncooperative coil spring!

they sure are Moog springs. part# CC868. i wasn't planning on sanding the coil, or the tab completely off. i started sanding the top part of the tab just to give some extra space and a smooth surface to slide over. it worked a bit, millimeters worth of a bit. the girth of the pry bar would...

the sitting of the uncooperative coil spring!

i can't rotate it past a certain point. the spring holds on to the back tabs, it just won't go over the last one. it grips it tight. i have to make an effort to remove it, so it doesn't just hang loosely, but i could see how catching air could be a problem. i'm thinking this particular spring...

the sitting of the uncooperative coil spring!

i couldn't do it. it was a 12-round fight with the coil winning, unanimously. my promoter is already working on the rematch. so, the top end of the coil is almost touching the next ring. the coil that was removed had much more space between the end and the next ring. shoulda checked out the...

the sitting of the uncooperative coil spring!

driver side spring went in like a charm. pass side is not in the mood to play along. am i making a mistake in leaving it like this? or should i grind/sand until i rotate the coil to the right some more? thanks for your time.

Heat riser - It's game night... name that thingamajig!

is it dumb to assume that it is better off disconnected, for that colder richer air? either way, much thanks Brian and Kesp for the swift responses. kinda wished that busted hose was the problem for the coughing.

Heat riser - It's game night... name that thingamajig!

hello everyone. my explorer started vibrating while stopped in gear, coughing every now and then. checking around i noticed my serp belt is tearing up. went underneath to see how far tear went and i noticed this... canteen-like part with the hose or tube obliterated. can anyone tell me...
