I've been having problems with mine as well losing coolant and low heat in the winter/ no ac in summer(ac may be from something else). I just checked and as you mentioned, there is yellowish dried crud around thermostat housing... So would I need to replace the housing and thermostat? Any advice...

Just finished this job. I had been putting it off for years, it looked like it was going to be a big headache but it was actually a pretty easy job. Wish I would have done it sooner. I avoided cutting the dash as well, thank you sooo much for this awesome write up big rondo...

Welcome! Is yours a 4.0l or the 4.6l. They don't make an air intake for the 04/05 but there are some things you can do. like here http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=296439 or you can mod a intake for a 02/03 like I did here...

How did it burn out your tranny? That's what i used on mine a spectra maf housing and a volant air intake. I've had it on my truck for about a year and havn't had any issues with mine. That doesn't really make sense to me can you clarify?

you need to install those to be able to install the grills. I have them on mine and all you do is drill holes through the fog light inserts and bolt the billet grills through the holes. but im not sure if you can do it with the inserts without fog lights like those shown above. You might have to...

I'm happy with my v6. So far no issues with the engine (knock on wood). Although I had to replace the tranny a couple of years ago under warrenty thank goodness... And the blend door issue as well. It has about 160 km on it now. I agree with exproblems, V8 aren't above the common issues.

My truck didn't like pulling my dads 20' enclosed trailer... It did ok though and it was uphill so I sure could feel it. alot different then pulling it with his 4500 :) lol Next time, he's on his own
