Fuel pumps going bad are a semi-common occurrence on Rangers, so change out your fuel filter and if that doesn't fix it then the fuel pump is the next place I'd look.

Except an 87 mazda is actually a mazda. Ford didn't start making them in their plants until 94.

I'm not to familiar with the b2000 I've worked on the 2200s. Is it carbed? Could be the fuel pump on the front of the motor. I would try out mazdaworld.org or mazdaforums.com another common problem is the ignition switch under th column, and the ignition module in the distributor. But if your sure its a fuel delivery problem then don't worry about that. Also if it does turn out to be the fuel pump you should check your oil to make sure it wasn't leaking gas in there. Good luck!
