2000 Explorer Sport Cam Synchronizer

4.0L OHV - Has anyone done this w/o removing the intake manifold? In my truck, the wiring harness is right over the top of the synchronizer and interferes with removal significantly. Is there a trick?

We just pulled a 96 synch from Sparksafly'n's truck for a squeak. Since his is a 92 with a 96 block- we just installed a stub drive unit. However, yes, we had to remove the upper plennum to get to it. Even then fitting a socket to the hold down bolt was by feel. Also, yours must be timed correctly so I would get the tool lined up on the old one, then pull it out without turning the engine at all, re install the new unit with the tool in place. This should change nothing ----
