I just bought a 2006 explorer. i haven't been able to use the 4x4 since my purchase. It makes a horrible loud noise upon engagement and it gets worse the longer it is engaged. I am familiar with 4x4's and it is not the sound from road noise or simply the noise of 4x4. My dealer has had the car 5 months. Since I bought it. Replaced transfer case, fluids, bearing and drive shaft, sensors, actual 4x4 switch in car... nothing still makes the noise and it only gets 8 miles per gallon... Also ONLY makes this noise if it is on the ground weight bearing. If they raise it up it runs quiet as can be!
HELP!!! I would like to drive my explorer again!
