Well I was having a great conversation with JTSmith on the phone today till I was told to get off the phone and goto the local 2008 Veteran's Day Car Show, so Jon said it was too cold to work in the shop and that he was bored and for me to take some pictures........

So Jon, here's to your bordem, and Rick I took the Mopar pics for you too:

Last year it took 4 hours for us judges to complete the judging, there were more than 350 cars this year.

Thanks for the motivator-I needed that.
I can see why you wouldn't want to judge this time. Choices choices--

There are a few very rare Oldsmobiles in there eh? I don't think I have ever seen a w30 wagon.

Thanks for the pictures. I'll look at them for a while longer.

I'm a freak for the oddball vehicles, the Grand Prix, the Marauder, the W30 wagon (oh I love wagons), the Turbo Trans Am, the Husrt Olds Cutlass, and the AMX.

I guess it's just cars that aren't everyday cars you would see.

Like the SVO, it was way ahead of it's time, and underdog, and a Mustang you just don't see too often.

Hopefully that kept your bordem at bay for a few mins.

Thanx guys glad I could share the photos with you, man it seemed like forever to up load them all and then post them.

So Tex, did it kinda make you feel at home, or let you know that downtown for the most part still looks the same.

I will tell you that if you came back the rest of Bastrop is expanding at a ridculous rate, just to give you a hint, Lowes is just getting ready to open at 304 and hwy71.

Austin is well on it way out here.

Yes you are right, Chad's Cobra is retardedly over horse powered (1000+), and he just baby's that car, I belive it's more so, just a bit scary for him to drive.

It's worthless till it's actually hooked up in 3rd gear, then it becomes mind boggling fast, enough to almost give you brain damage, but it's still a hoot to drive, note the smile on Chad's face :p:

Looks like a really cool show, so what's the deal with the intake you said we should look at closely?

guess I was so busy looking at the intake itself I totally ignored the lack of a carb, and the fuel rails

Yeah it kinda feels odd seeing all the places I used to frequent back in high school. Although it does look like main street has been touched up a lil since I left. Looks like a little fresh paint and new signs. It really didnt hit me till I saw a pic of that camero. I remember driving that car out to a car show in Rosanky 8 years ago.

The last time I was there they had just built a Tiger Tote gas station and a Jack in the box on the road just past the Ford dealership. The road to San Marcos, man I forgot the name of that road. Wait, isnt that 304?

That Jack in the Box and Tiger Tote are on HWY 21 just west of 304, the Rosanky swap at Mr. B's car museum has moved to Round Top, although it's still called the Rosanky Swap Meet, we were there just three weeks ago for that.

Mr. B sold the car museum and moved it to Arizona.

The old ACE Hardware store on Chestnut is gone, they leveled the building, the one across from the feed store, anf the Oyster Bar is no longer there either, it closed and Cindy's Hog Wild is renting/renovating the building now.

Crusing the "L" might be before your time, but still is nolonger being done, but the Bastrop Area Cruiser whom put on the car show you see still meets at Tractor Supply on saturday nights to hang out and bench race, my Flareside is newest model truck they will allow to park there with them.

There is an over pass now at 304 where Covert Chevy is by passing that intersection, and that is also where the new Lowe's is going along with a bunch of other stuff including a Pet Co. and a Spec's Liquor, so much for family owned Clint's.

I think if you came back to visit you would be sadly suprised that your small town has grown up, and not really in a good way as far as I'm concerned.

Well that sucks, Bastrop still had that "not invaded by corporate america" feeling to it when I was last there. An overpass by cover though, that amazes me. Im guessing that pecan grove across from Covert is now gone also. I remember there being a few people that met in front of the tractor supply next to Whataburger when I was there. And I was surprised when moved the bank and HEB and put an overpass at that intersection. Last I heard my quiet little subdivision with only 4 streets of houses has grown into epic proportions. I bet Riverside Grove now has that park they were marketing to us when we bought the house but never saw the years we were there.
