ok I got a 96 4.0L OHV explorer. Frankly I'm disapointed that it has 160hp stock. I added a K&N FIPK and a 2.5 catback flowmaster exhaust but I wan to have 200hp unnder my hood at least. What is the best way to go about this without breaking the bank (I have maybe $500 or so to do this)?

Are you trying to get 200 at the wheels or at the crank?

next steps are chip and throttle body. We have a good deal going on Apten chips, and I recommend the BBK TB.

Your best bet is to use the SEARCH feature on these boards, you can read all day about how to get more power from your OHV 4.0L.

A cam is a big upgrade on teh stock 4.0L, after allthe bolt on's are done you can almost see 200HP with just bolt ons. A OHV 4.0L can be built (Machine work, internal upgrades) for 230+ HP naturally aspirated. Of course 300HP is possible too but by the time you dump that much $$$$ into it its not too streetable anymore and you coulda swapped ina 5.0L......

      good luck
